It was Andy's favorite. Speed Racer didn't suck, it didn't blow me away personally though. When I saw the commercials all I saw was color, color and more color which put me off. As a movie while it went for the spirit of the original show it felt more like a conceptual exercise to me. Can we make straight up anime with live actors? That was what I got out of it, the digital environments would keep reminding me that these are actors on a soundstage instead of being into the moment. The Star Wars prequels did this to me too, particularly Attack of the Clones. As for Spritle's name, I didn't fact check because, well, I'm lazy. I did look up how to spell Wachowski though because I kept putting a T in it and then it looked wrong.

At any rate, I'm glad others really got into the movie and enjoyed your comment. Thanks for stopping by!Mr. Mikehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09506952713136965621noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28069151.post-23146257068262045022009-04-11T07:30:00.000-07:002009-04-11T07:30:00.000-07:00I had no problem getting fully engaged in this won...I had no problem getting fully engaged in this wonderful, very under-rated movie.

As an original fan of the anime, I thought that the Wachowskis captured the spirit of the anime perfectly. As for the CGI, it was supposed to look fake. I "got" it, I guess some people didn't.

Jeannie, person who commented before me, stated that you were down on the movie when it came, though you hadn't even seen it. How can you condemn a movie if you haven't even seen it?

Also, as a fan of the show, you really should have known the correct spelling of Spritle's name.

I am glad that at least you admit that Speed Racer didn't suck.Markernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28069151.post-11031385493669045342009-04-10T23:20:00.000-07:002009-04-10T23:20:00.000-07:00I only skimmed the post 'cause my stupid eye. You were really down on it when it came out in the theaters so I'm happy it was better than you were expecting.

Go SpeedRacer, Go!!Jeanniehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15118103744959559899noreply@blogger.com
