Midnight Madness 6/8

The WWE is giving away ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

Kind of a bummer week in entertainment news...

The Million Dollar Man - WWE honcho Vince McMahon has started a promotion to give away a Million dollars on episodes of RAW to fans in order to boost ratings. Everyone's got a price! Ha Ha Ha.

You're a Wonder, Wonder Woman - Lynda Carter takes her crime fighting skills to real life, she found a body in the Potomac.

To Be Over - Yes cancelled their summer tour due to respirory problems for lead singer Jon Anderson. Get well soon Jon!

Till The End - Steve Lukather has announced the end of Toto. Lukather felt that with David Paich and The Porcaros gone it was no longer the same band. A sad day in Melodic Rock.

Take Me Down - A rough week for Country music. First, my second favorite Country band Alabama are all suing their drummer for $202,000. Now, that's a lot of money to you and me but for Alabama (the group, not the state) it's not which means they're really mad at that guy. And then...

Sign of the Apocalypse? - To make things worse for the Grand Ole Opry, Jessica Simpson has released a Country single. The New England Patriots say be afraid, be very afraid...

From This Moment On- Shania Twain divorced her husband / producer Mutt Lange. It will be interesting to see if they still work together, Twain is one of the best selling Country music artists around.

So This Is Love? - Van Halen has managed to complete a full tour with David Lee Roth for their highest grossing run ever. That's great and i'm glad that I saw finally got to see them with Roth, because now that the tour is over I'm sure he's going to be fired. And rehired. And fired. That's just the way it goes with Van Halen.

Going to a Journey concert - We're going to see a concert in September with Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick. I've seen Journey a few times, but I've only seen Heart once and never seen Cheap Trick before so it should be great! Thank you Honey!

To close out, here's a little Toto. And yes, it is Paula Abdul in her presumably sane days as a dancer.

Wow! Is that not like the epitome of 80's icon-ness? Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick? Cheap Trick rules! That dude was so gorgeous, and he had such an unusual voice. They were truly a kick-ass band. I know you are most looking forward to Journey, but still... you gotta blog the entire show. Please, please, please.
From the way you blogged about the new Journey CD, I may have to invest in one for myself. I really do think it's cool they are putting out new stuff.

Hi Some Kinda Wonderful! I will definitely include the whole show when I see it. I've never seen Cheap Trick live and have always wanted to. At Budokan, Dream Police, One on One and Standing On The Edge were favorite records of mine in High School. I saw Heart in 1985 and had a great time, when I see them on tv these days they sound even better than before. In fact, I'm watching VH1 Rock honors and they're on right now.

After reading your Robin Zander comment, it occured to me with Ann Wilson and Robin Zander in the same place they can play their duet "Surrender To Me" from the Tequila Sunrise soundtrack. That could turn out to be the biggest 80's coup of all!

I like Lynda Carter.. she was my hero growing up :D

I will say I was, um... fascinated... by her. She was a physically imposing woman. To me, as a child. For some reason she always reminded me of my 3rd grade teacher, Miss Welch. ???

I wanted to be Wonder Woman and I got to be three years in a row at Halloween. I'll have to dig up a picture of me with my bullet-proof bracelets made out of tin foil.

Oh, honey! Like all of the third-class bands that you enjoy so much, Lukather and friends will reunite and hit the fair circuit in a couple of years. Do not fret- we will get to see Toto at the good ol' Solano County fair. Woohoo- Carmen Jara and Toto. Who? Exactly!!

Oh how far the WWE has fallen. I've stopped keeping up, but I try to check in now and again to see what's been going on. Disappointing.

I'm definitely considering going to the Journey tour. I'm impressed with their work on Revelation, and seeing Heart and Cheap Trick will just be a bonus. If I end up going in July, then I'll be sure to give updates on my concert impressions.

I had my wonderwoman underroos :p I also liked that when they did interviews with her she was articulate and not your typical Hollywood vampy siren.. I liked she was smart.. and could kick your butt :)

I'm green with envy, Elsie. We never got underoos at all. Wasn't I deprived?
