Still rollin' - April Wine stands up to the wind machine and dares them to take a pictureA recent post at The Rock Brigade Blog reminded me of a band I really liked in the early 80's, Canada's April Wine. These meat and potatoes Arena rockers served up ham fisted rock anthems and sweet ballads with enough heat to grab a few Gold records in the States (I guess I'm a little hungry). Led by singer / guitarist Myles Goodwin this band had like three or four guitar players at one point cranking out streamlined jams like This Could Be The Right One and Just Between You and Me . The song that made me a fan was the innuendo filled "If You See Kay" (a little phonetic joke). I think this video and song was banned from MTV (I could be wrong) and I'm pretty sure I originally saw it on a Public Broadcast Television station in the early 80's . So here it is, the new Flashback!

I remember hearing a few songs by them on the radio in the late night hours back in the 80's, but never got around to hearing a whole album by them.
Cool Mr. Mike! I liked April Wine. They did turn out some solid jams. With just enough love stuff to keep girls like my friend Michelle hooked.
Living so close to our Canadian neighbors gives me the advantage of being able to listen to their radio stations. They come in better than most of the Seattle ones do so I listen to them a lot. April Wine is on all of the time. Along with The Tragically Hip, these guys are like Gods over there. Even with their looser rules though I still have a hard time getting any of them to play If You See Kay though I have been able to once. ;)
Hi Metal Mark! April Wine was a great rock singles band, of the albums I've heard I liked The Nature of the Beast the most.
Hi some kinda wonderful! April Wine was jammin', after posting I watched the video for "I Like To Rock" and was floored. It was beer chugging rock at its best.
